Expert lowers arsenal update as a key decision was expected imminently

Arsenal has been operating without a sports director since the sudden departure of Edu in the mid -season, leaving an important gap in the club’s leadership structure.

The Brazilian played a crucial role in the resurgence of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, forming a formidable collaboration with the manager and overseeing the signings of key players such as Rice and Martin Olegaard.

Edu’s departure felt very intensely during the January transfer window, as the Gunners did not achieve reinforcements, despite the need by pressing Arteta for an attacker.

The club has been actively looking for its replacement, with various high -profile names linked to paper, included as Thiago Scuro de Monaco and Roberto Olabe of the Royal Society.

According to Arsenal expert, Charles Watts, the process of appointing a new sports director is now in his final stages. Speaking exclusively to Caughtoffside in his Last Daily Briefing ColumnWatts indicated that a “quite imminently” decision is expected to be made.

He confirmed that temporary sports director Jason Ayto remains in the operation, while the club has also had Olabe discussions, which is scheduled to leave the Real Sociedad at the end of the season.

Said:

“We are coming to the end of the search for a new arsenal sports director.”

“It has been a long process, but a decision is expected quite imminently with the list that was now reduced to a few candidates.”

“We know that Jason Ayto, the current temporary sports director of the club, is still in operation, while the conversations with Roberto Olabe, who must leave the Real Sociedad at the end of the season, have also been held.”

Although Arsenal traditionally prefers internal promotions, Watts also suggested that the club may need an exception this time and bring someone with more experience to manage the nearby crucial transfer window.

With the club that has had two puzzling windows, it is expected that next summer it will be “massive”.

Added:

“The following year or two is very important in the club. Edu’s departure left a large gap at a key moment and must be filled in someone who could have an immediate impact, both in terms of transfers and contracts renewals. “”

“Arsenal likes to promote internally, but it is sometimes good to bring ideas from the outside to inject something fresh into a club.”

“All the names of the race would do it. They have experience, they have worked at the highest level of world football and have strong contacts throughout the game.”

“The most important thing in Arsenal is now only to decide who they think is better and make the appointment because there is a massive summer that is approaching quickly.”
