Arsenal has been operating without a sports director since the sudden departure of Edu in the mid -season, leaving an important gap in the club’s leadership structure.
The Brazilian played a crucial role in the resurgence of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, forming a formidable collaboration with the manager and overseeing the signings of key players such as Rice and Martin Olegaard.
Edu’s departure felt very intensely during the January transfer window, as the Gunners did not achieve reinforcements, despite the need by pressing Arteta for an attacker.

According to Arsenal expert, Charles Watts, the process of appointing a new sports director is now in his final stages. Speaking exclusively to Caughtoffside in his Last Daily Briefing ColumnWatts indicated that a “quite imminently” decision is expected to be made.
He confirmed that temporary sports director Jason Ayto remains in the operation, while the club has also had Olabe discussions, which is scheduled to leave the Real Sociedad at the end of the season.
