All the PGA Tour Isaiah Salinda Rtower wanted to do on Sunday In Mexico of 2025 open at Vidantaworld was giving yourself a chance.
Entering Sunday, it seemed impossible that Salinda, who entered the day of the seven 54-volume leader Aldrich Potgieter, could mount a realistic accusation towards his first career victory PGA Tour. But golf often gives the unexpected.
The former Stanford stay came out on 2-nine-par before charging four birds in the ninth rear to shoot a 65 without Bogey and enter the club in the 19th. When Salinda made his nine-legged stack in the 18th hole, he was the leader at the club and tied up with Potgieter and Brian Campbell, who still had three holes to play.
Salinda signed his card and looked nervously while Potgieter and Campbell hit the shot after the nervous shot.
She asked for a moment as if Salinda could screw in a play off in the 19th, but both potgieter and Campbell Zero the 18th hole to post the 20th and by hand Salinda a third place. Campbell would continue to beat Potgieter in the second holes of the Play Off with some help from the golf gods.
While Salinda’s bold accusation came short, she was still a successful week for the former amateur Yllin on Vidanta Vallarta. Upon completion of the third place, Salinda is thrown in second place in Aon Swing 5-A place after potgieter-and has the inner way to win a ticket at Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard in two weeks.
“He played a great round,” Salinda said on Sunday. “Of course, a little disappointed that only a short shot turned out. At least to give myself a chance was everything I wanted to do today. I thought I was honestly behind I was, like seven, I knew it was an e Long shot.
“The top-10s are great here. This was a kind of my main goal that went today, just to close a Top-10 and enter the next week, hopefully players and Bay Hill, and all those events. “
Salinda was a new golf player and gained honors from the second All-American team as an elderly in Stanford while helping Cardinal win the NCAA Division Golf title.
Sunday’s conclusion was the best of Salinda in his PGA Tour career, and was his first Top-10 conclusion since he enrolled a T7 in 2023 shrines children Open.
Like Salinda, Potgieter played himself in the Classic Classic next week in The Palm Beaches. But while Salinda is looking to ride in his hot game, the 20-year-old South African can take a different approach as he sits on top of the Aon Swing 5 and should be closed in API.
Potgieter held the lead of 36 holes after shooting a flaw 61 on Friday. But he only shot the 4th on the weekend and was eventually tracked by Campbell.
Potgieter is an extraordinary driver, but other parts of his game let him sit while the intensity rose. He hopes to take the lessons taken at a heartbroken loss in Vallarta and turn them into a map to success for the next time he is in the boiler.
“Pressure is a big thing,” Potgieter said after being lost in a play off for Campbell. “You really can’t beat it. You just have to learn and adapt to the next time you are in this position again. I’m really happy with the way I played this week and trying to do this next week, I think. If you would tell me I would take second place before the week began, I would definitely have taken it. We are just happy to have entered a play off. The way I played today was not my best, and I had to follow all the time. It was nice to see some good results in the last five, the last six holes of the tournament. “
The 2025 open Mexico lacked the power of the star, but she displayed some of the youngest PGA Tour players who just arrived through the Tour Korn Ferry Tour road.
Campbell, a former 31-year-old senior, better Potgieter and Salinda To complete an impossible return of golf HistoRy
But Salinda and Potgieter did not leave Mexico with empty hands. Now they are on the fast track of future signature events and have the confidence and test that they can fight and win at this level.
For Salinda and Potgieter, it is a matter when, not if.
