Richardson Hitchins, a light welterweight champion from IBF, says he doesn’t like the idea of fighting a one -game against WBO champion TheOFIMO Lopez on Alcatraz Island this summer in San Francisco, California.
Hitchins (19-0, 7 food), a native of New York, feels that a fight between him and the Brooklyn-born Teo should take place where they came from in the city. He likes the idea that they are struggling under the Brooklyn bridge, Madison Square Garden or the Barclays Center.
The over alcatraz
Hitchins make a good point. Fans of Bay Arena in North California would not be interested in seeing theofimo against Hitchins, because none of that arena is. Initially, there are not many fights in that area, but it is not one that will contact fans of the San Jose and Gilroy area to have them look at Alcatraz.
Turki may be thinking about using someone from the Bay area to attract fans and then make thee and hitchins of it. To have it as the most important event on Alcatraz, people in that area would not be interested. They will have to be ultra-hard box fans to look at to see the fight. Theofimo (21-1, 13 CO’s) is not popular enough to attract an audience, and Hitchins are still unknown to most fans.
