In the 14th match International League T20 (ILT20) 2025, MI Emirates bowler Romario Shepherd showed a scintillating all-round game to win his team Abu Dhabi Knights (ADKR) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The drama unfolded in the 6th round of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders shootout as Shepherd took center stage. With the Cavaliers already under pressure, Shepherd delivered a ball that would leave a lasting impression on fans and players alike. With impeccable line and length, Shepherd bowled just outside the off stump and the ball came back sharply and caught Sharafu straight at the crease. The delivery clipped through the wicket and flew off the top of the stumps. Sharafu, unable to respond, was dismissed for just 4 runs from 3 balls.

Shepherd had already accounted for another keyed door in the same location before dismissing his honor. He was dismissed in the 3rd ball of the 6th over Michael Pepper who looked dangerous in the early stages of their shots. Shepherd bowled a full ball onto the stumps and Pepper tried to force it down but could only manage a thick outside edge and caught it safely. Nicholas Pooran behind the stumps.
Not only did Shepherd shine with the ball, he also made a spectacular impact with the bat. Earlier in the MI Emirates innings, he showed devastating batting, scoring 38 runs off just 13 balls. Shepherd hit 4 fours and three sixes to achieve a mind-boggling strike rate of 292.31.

Nicholas Pooran shines in MI Emirates’ innings
MI Emirates secured a comprehensive 28-run win over Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in a thrilling T20 clash. ADKR won the toss and elected to bowl first.
MI Emirates posted a competitive total of 186/6 in 20 overs. Captain Pooran led from the front, smashing 49 off 26 balls, laced with five fours and two powerful sixes. An opener Muhammad Wasim steadied with 38 runs off 35 deliveries including a single four and three sixes. Jason Holder and Ali Khan while ADKR claimed two wickets each Ibrar Ahmad chopped with one.
MI Emirates bowlers seal victory
In reply, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders could only muster 158/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Andries Gous He threw 34 with 34 balls Andre Russell‘s power-packed 37 off 23 balls, three fours and three sixes kept ADKR’s hopes alive. However, MI Emirates’ disciplined bowling was too strong.
Along with Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph while also impressing with a few wickets Akeal Hosein, Fazalhaq Faruki, Vaghar Salamkheiland Zahoor Khan each contributed with a wicket. Shepherd’s all-round brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award as MI Emirates recorded a well-earned 28-run win.
