3 Blue Jays players were in attendance for Rocky Sasaki

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a rough patch of baseball over the last few seasons, as even when they made the postseason, the results were less than desirable.

Although the Blue Jays have made the postseason in 3 of the last five seasons, all three of their trips to the playoffs ended with them making the wild-card series.

After missing the postseason in 2024, the Blue Jays spent the offseason looking to improve their roster and add some big-name free agents.

The Blue Jays pursued three big-name players who ended up signing with different teams, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burns and Rocky Sasaki.

Three Blue Jays players were present at the team’s meeting with Sasaki.

According to MLB analyst Ben Nicholson-Smith via X’s Foul Territory , Bo Bichette, Dalton Warshaw and Chad Green were in attendance at Sasaki’s meeting.

When looking at the players present at the Sasaki match, one name that is noticeably absent is Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

While Bichette, Varshaw and Green are all good players, Guerrero Jr. is the face of the Blue Jays and was not in attendance.

Sasaki eventually signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the Blue Jays appear to have made every effort to bring him to Toronto.

The 23-year-old starting pitcher comes to the Dodgers from Japan this offseason.

With his overseas team in 2024, Sasaki appeared in 18 games, posting a 10-5 record with a 2.35 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 111.0 innings.

The Blue Jays will continue their quest to add talent this offseason, but not getting Sasaki after putting in so much effort has to hurt.
