Fabrizio Romano has provided Caught offside with an exclusive video update on the Alexandre Garnacho to Chelsea story that emerged today.

In a new post for the Daily BriefingRomano confirmed the stories of Chelsea’s interest in the Manchester United winger, while also reporting that Napoli were interested.

While Garnacho has primarily been a key player for Man Utd in recent seasons, he has also had his critics at Old Trafford, particularly after a bit of a dip in form this term.

‘Talks over a move have progressed well and there is confidence the deal will happen’ – Which big name is being approached to join Arsenal?

Still, it appears top clubs continue to rate the Argentina international highly, with Romano saying Napoli manager Antonio Conte has called the player in an attempt to convince him to join.

Chelsea are also there for Garnacho, although United look unlikely to let him go easily, with big money likely to be required, particularly, one imagines, if a sale to a Premier League rival is involved.

“Also keep an eye out the situation of Alejandro GarnachoRomano said.

There is interest from Napoli, with Antonio Conte ringing up the player and pushing for the Argentine, but he is very expensive and seems difficult for Napoli.

“Also, Chelsea are there – they made an inquiry last week, and this week they will have more contacts to understand Garnacho’s situation.

“So Chelsea and Napoli are interested, but Man United are very clear: it has to be a very big offer or the player will stay at the club in the transfer window this January.”

Chelsea already have Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke as attacking midfield options, so it’s hard to see Garnacho necessarily starting at Stamford Bridge.

Still, there’s no doubt the 20-year-old has shown glimpses of being a big-time talent, so he could end up being a smart investment if the Blues land him.
