Daniel Medvedev had a very unproductive Australian Open in several ways. First, the three-time finalist was knocked out in the second round by the 19-year-old qualifier, marking his earliest defeat since his Melbourne debut in 2017.

Second he anchored $76,000 for two separate violationsand could end up paying more as he is still set to replace the cam he violently punched during his first-round victory over World No.418 Cassidy Samrej.

Medvedev was hit with a $10,000 fine for code violations in the first round, and another $66,000 for numerous violations during his loss to Tien, including a fine for skipping his post-match press conference.

Medvedev said after his first-round match that he hoped the fine would not be too high.

“I hope it’s not too big, because obviously, the penalty is usually for breaking the rocket, and the camera will cost a little bit, but I don’t think the Go Pro is that expensive,” he said. “What I have to say is that the camera was very, very strong, because my rocket didn’t take the damage.”

It is currently unknown what the additional cost of the webcam will be.
