Fabio Di Giannantonio has shared a major injury update after surgery ended his MotoGP season.


Fabio Di Giannantonio will be looking to bounce back in 2025 after his 2024 season ended early with injury.

The Italian will start his fourth season MotoGP This year. He spent his entire career as a satellite in the premier class Ducati Horseman

Di Giannantonio makes the move from Moto2 in 2022 and joins Gresini Racing. Having failed to score regular points in his rookie season, the 26-year-old stepped up in 2023 and won his first race in Qatar.

He finished 12th with 151 points before moving to VR46 for 2024. Di Giannantonio continued to show improvements with Ducati before his season ended abruptly.

Fabio Di Giannantonio has recently said he will be ‘back on two wheels’ as he makes a positive injury update.

The Italian has only finished out of the points three times in the first 18 Grands Prix, and only once has he finished outside the top 10.

The 26-year-old did not start the tournament in Austria after suffering a major accident in training and dislocating his left shoulder – which would eventually end Di Giannantonio’s season early.

The VR46 rider opted to undergo shoulder surgery and be fit for 2025 after missing the last two rounds in Malaysia and Barcelona.

Andrea Iannone and Michel Pirro were replaced in the last two rounds. Di Giannantonio scored his best points in MotoGP with 165 points and finished 10th in the standings.

The Italian posted on his Instagram account that he was impressed with his recovery. He is eyeing a return to the premier class after delivering a positive upgrade.

“Physio sessions have been my main activity for the past two months. We still have a lot of work to do, but I’m impressed with how my body is responding day by day. We will keep moving, soon we will be back on two wheels,” he said.
