Former Player Confused Why 1 MLB Free Agent Was Not Signed

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series by defeating the New York Yankees in five games.

Although the World Series is over, the excitement surrounding Major League Baseball continued into this offseason with a loaded free agent class.

Some players who have already signed include Juan Soto, Willie Adames, Corbin Burns and Max Fried.

Although many big name players have signed, there are still plenty of big names including Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman and Rocky Sasaki.

Another slugger still available is Anthony Santander of the Baltimore Orioles, and former MLB shortstop Cliff Floyd doesn’t understand how he’s still available.

“I don’t understand how Santander is still there, it makes me sick,” Floyd said via MLB Network’s “X.”

Floyd said how confusing it is for him that Santander is still available, especially after his performance in 2024 and being a switch hitter.

Santander entered the league in 2017 with the Orioles and played all eight seasons of his MLB career with the team.

In 2024, Santander played in 155 games where he batted .235 with 44 home runs, 102 RBI and an .814 OPS.

Not only did Floyd point out Santander’s offensive stats, he also mentioned how he has a cannon for an arm from the field.

At just 30 years old, Santander has shown what he’s capable of in 2024, and few teams could get more out of him.

Santander will be a name to watch now that he is reportedly open to signing a short-term deal this off-season.
