Devin Haney says he met with Turki Al-Shiekh, and he has something “big” for him in 2025. He said one of them is a rematch with Ryan Garcia, who he says “cheated” on him, and it’s for him “personally” .”
Turki seems to really believe in Haney. He bought into the hype based on what he did when he melted down to fight at 135 for years. He was seen as a classic lightweight bully.
When Devin moved up to 140, it fell apart for him against Ryan, and he was viciously shelled out in a humiliating loss. Haney had been lying low ever since, licking his wounds, and no one had hidden him or seen her until now when he emerged from his wheelbarrow.
Haney’s cryptic comeback plan
This is just one of the big fights Turki has for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs). Haney says he will have the “big fights” with his “buddies.” However, he lacks details about who he considers his “mates”.
We know he can’t afford to fight anyone with power right now because he rocked Kingry left and right in his 12-round decision loss last April. Fighters with power are Devin’s kryptonite. So, he has to fight an old guy, or someone who has no pop in their punches.
“I had a great open workout yesterday. I live the rise, and I look forward to fighting here one day,” said Devin Haney via Jay on Xtalking about his London training session on Friday. “We don’t get recognition for all our hard work; We are not rewarded enough.
“It’s going to be big. The big fights are going to happen with me and my mates,” Haney said when asked what her 2025 will be like. “His Excellency Turki Al-Shiekh has a plan for me, and I’m excited to execute it. It’s big.
“It’s 100% personal because he cheated and he got caught. So, it’s very personal, and I want to be happy until that fight is done, the rematch,” Haney said when asked about his desire to fight Ryan Garcia in a second attempt to avenge his loss of 2024. “This is something for me.”
“We just saw him in the hotel. He didn’t say a word. It’s unfinished business like I said,” says Haney about crossing paths with Ryan Garcia at a hotel in London today. “We can finish it in 2025, and I think we will.”
I just hope Turki doesn’t drop Haney if he gets plowed by Ryan Garcia again in the rematch. I don’t know what Turki sees in him, but a second defeat will be a moment of relief.
