Chris Sutton has predicted Manchester United will be in trouble again when they face Wolves on Christmas Day.

The Red Devils are reeling from a miserable week in which they crashed out of the EFL Cup 4-3 to Tottenham Hotspur before losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League for the second year running.

The Man United board makes its position on Marcus Rashford clear!

As a result, united they are 13th in the table, nine points clear of the Champions League but only 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Next up for the Red Devils is a trip to Molineux to face a Wolves side on the rise after thrashing Leicester 3-0 at home in Vitor Pereira’s first game in charge.

So can United get back on track against the side sitting 18th in the Premier League table?

Not according to Chris Sutton.

“I usually get a fair bit of backlash on social media when I predict a Manchester United defeat, but it’s been very quiet since I said they would lose to Bournemouth on Sunday,” the former Celtic and Blackburn striker wrote on his prediction column for BBC Sports.

With the score at 1-1, he continued: “I didn’t think it would be 3-0 again but the reason I went with the Cherries is because they won at Old Trafford last season and since then have improved while United have gone backwards So was it really a surprise?

“Go to this game, and the same thinking applies. Why would anyone look at Ruben Amorim’s side and back them to beat Wolves? I can’t think of any compelling reason for anything to be different here.

“I feel sorry for Amorim because he arrived with so much excitement around his date, but, only a few weeks later, he must be fully aware of the big job he has to turn things around.

“United have lost a fortune building this squad and, as Amorim says, are still trying to find their best XI. This is a testing period for him, but he also has to deal with issues such as the future of Marcus Rashford. He has a lot to sort out.

“It’s not hard to tell what Wolves will be like either. One of the positives from their win over Leicester in Vitor Pereira’s first game was the clean sheet, but you have to remember that the Foxes are average.

“So, as poor as United have been, I’m not going for Wolves to win this either. Instead, I think it’s going to be a tight game and there’s a draw written all over it.”
