Aston Villa have reportedly agreed a deal to extend goalkeeper Filip Marschall’s contract.

Marschall is a product of Aston Villa’s youth system but has so far made just one senior appearance for the club in a 1-1 draw against Zrinjski Mostar in the Uefa Conference League last season.

PSG make lucrative bid to sign Aston Villa striker!

The 21-year-old, who is capped by England and Poland, has found games easier to come by on loan and has played 25 times in all competitions for League Two side Crewe Alexandra this season.

Marschall has kept nine clean sheets during that time, conceding 25 goals and helping Crewe finish fourth in the table, well in the mix for promotion.

The goalkeeper’s current contract at Villa Park was only due to expire in the summer of 2027, but according to give me sportthe club have already made a move to tie him down to a new contract, with terms agreed between the two parties.

despite Aston Villa well stocked with goalkeepers, Marschall is still believed to be highly rated, as claimed by former MK Dons manager Mike Williamson, who worked with him during his loan spell there last season.

Explaining a couple of Marschall’s mistakes, he said (via Birmingham Post Office): “I know what he has, and the most important thing is his personality and his character. He is incredibly highly rated at Aston Villa, he is a young goalkeeper.

“I think even though we all know his pedigree, everyone makes mistakes, including me. You can see it in his composure, his character and his quality, he’s done incredibly well.”

Aston Villa are sixth in the Premier League table, just three points off the Champions League places.

Next up for Unai Emery’s men is a trip to Newcastle United on Christmas Day.
