Major League Baseball’s offseason hasn’t slowed down in excitement even after top free agent prospect Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets.
More and more moves are being made seemingly every day, with the Boston Red Sox making several moves in their starting rotation.
The Red Sox traded for Chicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet earlier this season, and they acquired another starting pitcher on Monday.
Walker Buehler signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
MLB analyst Chris Cotillo revealed why he likes Buehler’s move to sign a one-year deal.
“It’s about going to market next year and maybe getting a mega-deal,” Cotillo said via X’s Foul Territory.

Buehler signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox and will receive $21.05 million through the 2025 season.
Cotillo likes that Buehler only signed a one-year deal because if he can perform well, he could get a significantly bigger deal next offseason.
Buehler will remain with the big-market team after going from the Dodgers to the Red Sox, and Cotillo believes some of the pressure will be taken off with the presence of Crochet as the team’s ace.
Buehler started 16 games with the Dodgers in 2024, going 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 75.1 innings.
If Buehler can replicate his 2021 season, where he started 33 games and had a 2.47 ERA, he could sign a huge contract next offseason.
