Mohamed Salah has admitted his pride at becoming the first player in Premier League history to reach double figures in both goals and assists ahead of Christmas.
The Egyptian scored two and created another pair of goals Liverpool’s thrilling 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, bringing his season tally to 15 goals and 11 assists in just 16 games.
It’s a feat never before seen in England’s top flight and, while Salah admitted it was never his aim to become the first, it’s another record he can be proud of .
“I didn’t think about it before the game, but I’m glad I did,” Salah said. “It’s something that makes me proud, I’ll keep working hard.”
The milestones keep coming for Salah, who moved up to fourth Liverpoolthe all-time top scorers lists.
With 229 goals to his name, Salah moved above Billy Liddell’s 228 and will now have his sights set on moving up to third, a position currently held by Gordon Hodgson’s 241 goals.
“It’s great to get it at such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game,” Salah said. “Wherever I’m going to finish my career, I’m happy.”
