Major League Baseball lost a legend over the weekend when stolen base king Rickey Henderson died at the age of 65.
Henderson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and received 94.8 percent of the vote.
The legendary leadoff hitter will be missed by MLB fans and Henderson’s former teammates and coaches.
One of Henderson’s former teammates is taking his death in stride as Jose Conseco issued a statement following the news of Henderson’s death.
“I’m heartbroken and devastated,” Conseco said via his personal X account.
I am heartbroken and devastated.
Ricky Henderson was an incredibly talented player, but an even better person.
I will never forget all the incredible memories we made together. Memories I will never forget.

Henderson entered the league in 1979 with the Oakland Athletics and played a total of 25 MLB seasons.
Henderson’s final career season came with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003, and his career stats are not impressive.
Henderson’s career stats include 3,081 games played with 3,055 hits, 297 home runs, 1,115 RBI, 1,406 stolen bases and an .820 OPS.
During his career, Henderson played for nine different teams, including the Athletics, Dodgers, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels , Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.
Conseco had some heartfelt words to say about the loss of a friend and teammate.
He noted that Henderson was not only an incredible baseball player, but also an incredible person.
Although Henderson was only 65 years old, he reportedly lost his battle with pneumonia.
The baseball world will mourn the loss of one of the all-time greats, and many probably feel the same way Conseco does about him.
