The New York Mets finished second in the National League East, and while they didn’t win the division, they extended a postseason run, winning two series as a clean sheet before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship.
The Mets continued their postseason run by pulling off the biggest upset of any team this offseason, signing free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract.
One free agent still available is Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, and one analyst recently revealed which team would be the best fit for him.

Alonso debuted with the Mets in 2019 and has played all six seasons of his MLB career with them.
While other teams are believed to be interested in Alonso, DiComo said he believes the smoothest pitch still lies with the Mets.
The New York Yankees are reportedly not interested in pursuing Alonso, and other teams such as the Toronto Blue Jays already have the star at first base.
Alonso had a productive year with the Mets in 2024, playing in all 162 games and hitting .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and a .788 OPS.
It will be interesting to see if the Mets offer Alonso enough money to bring him back in 2025 to join the newly acquired Soto as they chase the third World Series title in franchise history.
