Cobra’s new DS-ADAPT metalwood line offers seemingly limitless loft and lie adjustment thanks to its innovative FutureFit33 hose and SmartPad technology. Never has the driver offered 33 settings of loft and lie adjustments in a club.
But the sock may actually be more useful in woods and hybrids, said Jose Miraflor, Cobra’s vice president of architecture.
ACTIvE this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully EquippedMiraflor told co-hosts Kris McCormack and Wadeh Maroun that the FF33 will especially excel in the fairway woods because those are typically the most challenging clubs for golfers to adjust to.
“And once you find a cheap wood, you usually have it for a longer buying cycle than any other club because it’s the lowest club you’re hitting off the deck, right?” Miraflor said. “So in fairway woods, I think one of the natural things that’s a problem is that a lot of people need flatter lie angles. And it will tilt the axis of rotation just slightly to the right.
“And now you can really start to see what a neutral shaft is on a fairway wood.”
Miraflor said that at a previous company he worked for, the Tour department was constantly bending the fairway woods to accommodate pros who wanted to get the ball rolling.
with FutureFit33 in the DS-ADAPT linefitters and players now have the ability to change the alignment up or down two degrees, regardless of loft placement and face angle. With previous adjustable hoses, most adjustments could only make the sticks straighter or slightly flatter than the standard setting.
“So now you don’t have to do that, and you can get two better grades out of it,” Miraflor said. “I think it’s really going to help a lot of people with their fairway game.”
Miraflor added that it will also be helpful for hybrids to become flatter because top players often struggle with a lefty loss with hybrids as well.

And for those who think the 33 back settings can be intimidating, Miraflor explained that using the FF33 loft sleeve isn’t really that complicated once you understand your lack and refer to the included chart.
“Once you find out which quadrant you’re lacking in, go with the opposite quadrant,” he said of the chart. “And now if you pick two or three from there, directly opposite to get you back to A1, you’ll only have to try maybe two to three, maybe four settings at the most.”
