Major League Baseball fans finally have an answer to where top free agent prospect Juan Soto will be playing in 2025.
Soto led this year’s free agent class and was in talks with teams like the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
The decision was made by Soto to stay in New York, but with the Mets, as he agreed to a 15-year deal worth $765 million with the team.
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona offered his thoughts on the Soto deal and what surprised him the most.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale of “X,” Francona said he was most shocked by the $75 million signing bonus Soto received.
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona when asked if he was shocked by Juan Soto’s 15-year, $765 million contract: “I was shocked by the ($75 million) signing bonus.”

Francona seemed to throw in some sarcasm when asked if he was shocked by the deal Soto agreed to with the Mets.
Soto’s 15-year, $765 million deal is the highest in MLB history, surpassing the $700 million deal Shohei Otani signed with the Dodgers last offseason.
Since managing in MLB since 1997, Francona has seen just about everything, and his comments about the contract seem puzzling.
Francona’s comments were probably sarcastic because he didn’t know how to react to the contract.
The Soto contract will likely get more reactions once the news has had some time and people can gather their thoughts on Soto’s surprise lottery finish.
