The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to press the International Cricket Council (ICC) with its new demand for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Also, according to a new report, the final decision on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by Pakistan will be announced on Wednesday.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is likely to be played in Hybrid Model
According to various media reports, more than 50 competitions will be played in the hybrid model. This is because the Indian government has denied permission to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send Team India to neighboring countries.
Political relations between India and Pakistan have not been good for a very long time and two teams bilateral horns are not locked series for more than ten years.
The Indian government has identified a security threat to players in Pakistan. Therefore, they refused the travel permit. This decision has been conveyed to the BCC by the BCCI and numerous meetings have already been held between the BCC board members to resolve the matter.
Pakistan demands a new model for future ICC events in India
India’s stand has not gone down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the latter has made major demands to adopt a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The PCB feels it is unfair that Team India does not visit Pakistan and that the Men in Green travel to India for ICC events. The Mohsin Naqvi-led council has proposed a new model whereby both India and Pakistan will play their matches at a neutral venue when ICC events are held in their respective countries.
The PCB wants this new model to be followed at least in the current commercial cycle (2024-27) of the ICC, if not the entire current cycle till 2031. Several tournaments will be hosted by India in this cycle, but the ICC T20 World Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup will be co-hosted by India.
PCB seeks written assurance in a major new demand
Before officially accepting the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board sought written assurance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the new model to be followed in future ICC tournaments.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought written assurance from the World governing body (ICC) regarding the hybrid model for future international events hosted by India. A decision on the Champions Trophy is likely to be taken on Wednesday,” sources told IANS on Monday.
As reported, the Indian National Cricket Team will hold their matches in Dubai and will also host the semi-finals and finals depending on the qualifying stage of the competition. Rohit Sharma– management side.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from February 19 to March 9, but the full tournament schedule not yet announced. However, recently broadcast company Star Sports aired a promo of the race.
