Gervonta Davis announces next fight after defending Roach

Gervonta Davis has revealed that he will call out his next opponent in the post-fight interview on March 1 following his WBA lightweight title defense against Lamont Roach at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Post-fight announcement

Boxing fans already have a good idea who it will be, as Gervonta (30-0, 28 KOs) revealed his 2025 fight list yesterday, and the first name he mentioned was Ryan Garcia.

Tank’s fight with Ryan generated 1.2 million PPV buys on April 22, 2023, bringing in over $100 million in gross revenue. Both fighters cashed hand-over-fist, with the Baltimore native bringing in a purse estimated between $50 million up to $60 million.

Ryan target

Tank says he is retiring at the end of 2025, so it makes sense that he would choose to fight Ryan Garcia first, as it would be too risky to wait until the second or third fight next year. Ryan might be beaten by someone else. The purse that Gervonta could get in a fight against Ryan Garcia is tremendous.

Ryan’s purse was $30 million, which is excellent for a challenger. The recent success has come down to Ryan’s huge popularity on social media and the hard work he has put into selling the fight with interviews. The event sells for $84.99 on PPV, which is obviously much more than Turki Alalshikh’s events have been priced for.

Kingry did all the heavy lifting to promote the fight, allowing Tank to ride his coat tails and let him do the marketing of the fight. With Ryan’s 12M Instagram followers, he regularly advertised his fight with Tank, and many of them are believed to have bought the event on PPV.

Davis can’t make the same kind of money fighting WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson because he doesn’t have a huge following nationwide in the US. play the childish game of tag. You really have to like that style of watching to be interested enough to watch Shakur fight anyone.

The Exclamation

Dan Canobio: Three names you want in 2025.”

Gervonta Davis: “I won’t say. I was never called out to anyone.”

Canobbio: “So, it will be your first time. So, more reasons to tune in on March 1.”

Gervonta: “Yes, but I just told you.”
