In the 16th place Hubert Hurkacz ended his long partnership with coach Craig Boynton shortly before the US Open. It was a successful five-year partnership that cemented Hurkacz as a Top 10 player (career No. 6) and delivered eight ATP titles, including two at the Masters 1000 level, in Miami in 2021 and Shanghai in 2023.
After taking some time to think, the 27-year-old Hurkacz has chosen an elite training tandem that can help him take the next steps in his blossoming career.
Hurkacz announced he will work with Hall of Famer Ivan Lendl and Chilean legend Nicolas Massu in 2025. Lendl, an eight-time major champion, also coached Andy Murray to his three major titles. Massu, an Olympic gold medalist in singles and doubles at the 2004 Athens games, and a former no. 9 of the world, led Dominic Thiem to his only Grand Slam title.

“Having Nicolas Massu and Ivan Lendl as part of my team is an honor,” Hurkacz said in a statement. “Their knowledge and dedication inspire me to work harder than ever, and I’m ready to put in the hard work.
“I am excited and optimistic about the 2025 season and beyond. This has been a year of ups and downs; I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot, and I can finally say that I’m completely healthy and ready for the challenges ahead.”
Hurkacz underwent surgery on his right meniscus in July after he injured it in a fall at Wimbledon. He returned to the pace of the North American hard court after being forced to miss the Paris Olympics. He finished the year with a 40-19 record, but played just three matches after the US Open.
The Pole will begin his 2025 season by representing his nation at the 2025 United Cup, which begins on December 27.
