The Major League Baseball season is over and attention has turned to the free agent class and also the awards show.
There are plenty of big-name free agents to keep everyone’s attention, but there are also some close races when it comes to awards for the MLB 2024 season.
While most of the focus is on the Most Valuable Player and Cy Young awards, the Rookie of the Year award is another one to keep an eye on.
Harold Reynolds has his thoughts on who he thinks will win the Rookie of the Year award in both the American and National Leagues.
According to MLB Network’s “X,” Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates won the National League ROTY and Luis Gill of the New York Yankees won the American League ROTY, according to Reynolds.

Reynolds describes how he thinks the NL ROTY race is a lot closer than most people think.
He thinks Jackson Merrill of the San Diego Padres will make the race interesting, even if Skenes actually wins the award when all is said and done.
Skenes had an incredible rookie season where he posted 11 wins and 3 losses with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 133.0 innings.
The Yankees’ Gill also had a solid season, posting 15 wins and seven losses with a 3.50 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 151.2 innings.
Reynolds believes Gill and Skenes will win the awards in the end, but the races will be closer than people think.
