Next year, Be Lenendary will launch programs in Melbourne, Indian Wells and Miami (among others), giving student-athletes from local youth tennis programs the opportunity to embrace the history of the sport in a learning environment that features meetings with real-life Hall of Famers and trips to local pro tournaments.
More from today’s press release:
To start the year, Be Legendary will launch in Melbourne, Indian Wells and Miami. Hall of Famers scheduled to attend include Kim Clijsters, Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario and 2025 Inductees Mike and Bob Bryan, and Rosie Casals, among others. Be Legendary was piloted in 2024 with the participation of Clijsters, Sánchez-Vicario, Andre Agassi, Chris Evert, Leander Paes, Martina Navratilova, Vijay Amritraj, Rick Draney, Tracy Austin, Gigi Fernandez and Stan Smith. Students in the pilot program had the opportunity to study the inspiring stories of each of these Hall of Famers and then spend time with them in person through question and answer sessions, one-on-one conversations and tennis programming.
“Be Legendary was created by the International Tennis Hall of Fame to educate young players around the world about both the history of the sport and the lessons learned from its legends,” said Clijsters, a fellow Hall of Famer. “Our goal is to do some good in the world, helping kids find their greatness by showing them what it means to be legendary, both on and off the field.”
Be Legendary programming will culminate this summer in Newport, where outstanding participants selected from each youth organization will participate in a trip to the International Tennis Hall of Fame during the 2025 Induction Celebration.
