Liverpool’s forward duo with Mohamed Salah is unclear


Liverpool have scouted Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as they plan life after Mohamed Salah, according to a new report.

Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season and it is still unclear whether the Egyptian will sign an extension or not.

The 32-year-old has started the 2024/25 season in fine form, scoring six goals in nine. Premier League appearances, and remains an integral part of a Liverpool frontline that also features the likes of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.

Sky Sports report that Liverpool are planning for all eventualities and are busy identifying players they believe are capable of playing for Arne Slot in the future.

Semenyo is a very well known player Liverpool Sporting director Richard Hughes, as he was responsible for prying the 24-year-old out of the Championship to sign for Bournemouth, and he has started the season in fine form.

As for Mbeumo, he has established himself as Brentford’s talisman following Ivan Toney’s departure to the Saudi Pro League, scoring eight goals in nine Premier League games this season. The Cameroon international is known for his pace, dribbling ability and expertise on the ball, and his profile has risen significantly over the past 12 months.

Liverpool have made a good start to the season with Slot and are in second place Premier League table behind undefeated Manchester City. The Reds have won seven of their nine games and drawn one a valuable point at Arsenal last time out

They also do well in renovation Champions League after recording a trio of wins over AC Milan, Bologna and RB Leipzig.
