A pair of former US Open champions have been awarded US Open men’s singles wild cards.
2016 champion Stan Wawrinka and 2020 champion Dominic Thim will enter this year’s draw, along with six other wild cards, the US Open announced Wednesday.

Wawrinka, 39, a three-time major champion, and Thiem, 30, playing in his last major, join him Chris Eubanks, Zachara Zvajda, Your student, Matthew Forbes, Alexandre Muller AND Tristan Schoolkate.
Tien won the US Open wild card challenge, while Forbes won the USTA 18 National Championship in Kalamazoo last weekend.
Thiem will retire in Vienna in October. He is currently ranked 211.
The 39-year-old Wawrinka is ranked No. 141. He is 5-11 on the season.
