There’s not much reason for optimism in New York right now, as the Yankees trail the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 in the World Series after dropping two games in the West in devastating fashion.
Despite being down 2-0 before Game 3, there is one stat that shows what the story really is on the Yankees’ side.
FOX Sports shared X’s graph showing the last two times a team has gone up 2-0 in a Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series, the team lost the series 2-0.

The Yankees and Dodgers are meeting for the 12th time in the World Series, a record for the most championship games between two teams in any professional sport.
The Yankees lost the first two games of the 1978 World Series before winning the next four, while the Dodgers lost the first two games of the 1981 World Series before winning the next four.
Granted, this was over 40 years ago, but Yankees fans will be clinging to any shred of positivity they can muster before Game 3.
Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton have produced a laundry list of postseason moments this month, but Aaron Judge hasn’t been able to join the party often enough and is a big reason the team is in a hole.
Judge is hitting just .150 in the postseason and went 1-for-9 with six strikeouts in Games 1-2.
We’ll see if the Yankees can recreate history and win the next four games to keep this strange streak going.
