The New York Mets were eliminated from the 2024 playoffs after losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 in the National League Championship Series.

The loss ended a magical run for the Mets as they came up short in both series wins against the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies.

After their recent loss to the Dodgers, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza revealed what he told his team.

“Now they know what it takes to play meaningful games, not just in August and September, but deep into October. Everyone should feel proud of themselves,” Mendoza told FOX Sports. Via MLB.

In his first year managing the Mets, Mendoza led them to an 89-73 regular season record and their first NLCS appearance since 2015, when they swept the Chicago Cubs before losing to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

The Mets have been in a tough spot this year in terms of pitching after starter Sean Manaiah was pulled after throwing just two innings in Game 6.

They ended up using seven pitchers in the game, which doesn’t seem to have been planned.

Manaia was excellent in Game 2 against the Dodgers, getting the win after throwing five innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs and four walks while striking out seven.

Overall, Mendoza is justifiably proud of his team and how they have overcome all the adversity they have faced this season.

He will look to lead the Mets back to the playoffs next season and make another run at his first World Series title as a manager.
