The New York Yankees have advanced since winning their first World Series in 2009.
They defeated the Cleveland Guardians in the American League championship four games to one, and they will face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Juan Soto hit a big home run on Saturday to help his team end the streak.
According to Brian Hoch’s “X” report, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed the status of starter Nestor Cortes before releasing the World Series roster.
“There’s a decent chance,” according to Boone, Cortez will be on the roster.

Cortez hasn’t pitched for the Yankees this postseason since suffering a hamstring strain back in September that he’s been recovering from.
He started 30 games for the Yankees during the regular season, posting nine wins and ten losses with a 3.77 earned run average and 162 strikeouts in 174.1 innings.
Cortez pitched in the 2022 postseason with the Yankees, where he started three games and had a 0-0 record with a 4.50 earned run average and seven strikeouts in 12.0 innings.
Apparently, the only thing that is known for sure is that Gerrit Cole will get the ball for the Yankees in one of the World Series.
Cole has been dominant for most of his postseason career, and he remains the ace of this Yankees clubhouse.
If Cortez returns to the roster, it will be interesting to see how Boone uses him, as Cortez has pitched out of the bullpen earlier in his career.
Yankee pitchers will be tasked with slowing down Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers offense in the World Series starting Friday.
