Zheng Qinwen It is recovering after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on its right elbow.
The Olympic Champion of the Gold Medal told social media that it is suffering from elbow pain in recent months.
“Over the past few months, I have taken constant pain in my right elbow during training and matches. Despite trying different treatments to manage it, the embarrassment never left completely,” Zheng wrote in an Instagram post. “After consulting the elbow specialists and discussing with my team completely, we decided that the arthroscopic operation was the best option to completely resolve the issue.
“Yesterday, I subjected to the procedure successfully, and I am grateful to have me.”
It is uncertain when the former Australian Open Finnialist can return even though Zheng said she predicts “just a short break”.
“Now starts the recovery journey. Over the coming weeks and months, I will focus completely on rehabilitation – doing everything I can get stronger and healthier,” Zheng said. “This is just a short break, and I see it as an indispensable step towards a better version of myself in court.”
World No.6 reached the quarter -finals or better in six of its last eight tours.
