The WBC Tuesday lightweight champion William Zepeda defends this Saturday, March 29 against Tevin Farmer in a 12-round Rematch, Live on dazn In Cancun, Mexico. Zepeda (32-0, 27 CO’s) already beat the farmer (33-7-1.8 COs) on Latino Night on November 16 in Riyadh last year, but Golden Boy Promotions decided to run it back due to the match. The event starts at 19:00 ET on Dazn.
Zepeda decided to hit the 34-year-old man in the fourth round with a 10-round and he was taken many shots in the fight. The Mexican Brawler could not farm in the later rounds when he made him tired of the pace and his fierce body attack.
12 rounds now
The re -broadcast is this time for 12 rounds, which must play in the style of Zepeda because he is exhausted in the later rounds. If there are two more rounds, it will work well for Zepeda if he can push the fight quickly like last time.
Some fans believe that the true reason the re -broadcast is happening is that Zepeda’s handlers did not feel that he was ready to challenge the WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson for his title. So they decided to set up a rematch, hoping that Zepeda, 28, would perform better.
If Zepeda struggles again, Golden Boy may need to forget to fit him against Shakur and focus on the IBF title.
To have a chance against the mover, Stevenson, Zepeda will have to change his style, because he will never have the chance to stand close and throw at the body against him. Shakur moves too much to that style to work against him.
That fighting style will never be good for the way Zepeda is fighting because he is a volume puncher that requires his opponents to stop. Entertainment is Zepeda much more exciting to look at compared to Shakur, but he is not built for the amateur style he uses.
