The WBC -Tussentage lightweight champion William Zepeda and Tevin Farmer will meet next month on March 29 in Cancun, Mexico. The event will be shown Live on dazn In a golden boy-promoted card.
Fan response
Fans on social media are not pleased to see Zepeda (32-0, 27 COs) running against the 34-year-old former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Farmer (33-7-1, 8 costs) because he has already beaten him by A 10-round split decision on November 16 at Latino Night in Riyadh.
People want to see Zepeda use another contender for a tune-up to get him ready for his title challenge to WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. Fighting again is useless.
The scores
-95-94: Zepeda
-95-94: farmer
-95-94: Zepeda
Although Boer and a handful of fans felt it had to go, most people considered it a clear victory for Zepeda. The judges ignored the body that Zepeda did in that battle.
If they took it into scoring, the fight must have been a running victory for William. I watched the fight, and Zepeda won 9-1. Farmer won the fourth round due to a Flash Knockdown, but it’s the only bright point in the competition for him.
Punch statistics
Zepeda landed 259 off 778 strokes for a 33.3% connection rate. Ninety were body shots.
Farmer linked to 32.9% on 193 of 587
It was not a close struggle to make a rematch to make sense, but it is understandable why Farmer would have a second chance. It gives him another payday and a chance to be seen by many fans. If Tevin had not fought this battle, he would fight again on smaller cards against obscure fighters.
