Zepeda Ready For Farmers Challenge

William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) realizes he can’t slip away against Tevin Farmer this Saturday, November 16, at Latino Night at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Zepeda (28) knows that Farmer (33-6-1, 8 KOs) is using him as a stepping stone to a new start.

It’s a second chance for 34-year-old former IBF super featherweight champion Farmer, who is coming off a loss to Raymond Muratalla. If Farmer can win this fight, he will be a possible opponent for WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

Farmer is not overlooked

“All sections are difficult, but this one in particular has a bit of everything. It’s also something that motivates me and gets me up early every day to train hard,” said William Zepeda DAZN Boxing over the lightweight division which is a good one.

The lightweight division is a stacked one with ten good fighters, and more moving up all the time. That’s where the money is for fighters.

“It’s an important challenge, where it comes down to proving who William Zepeda is,” Zepeda said of his fight against Tevin Farmer. “We know Tevin Farmer’s skills and experience. We know he’s a strong competitor, even if he hasn’t been very active.

“He knows it’s a big opportunity for him too. A win against William Zepeda could open doors for him. That’s what our competitors see: a chance to open doors, but we have to have the opportunity to win and keep progressing,” Zepeda said.

Farmer hopes to defeat Zepeda and put himself in a world title fight against Shakur on February 22 in Riyadh. It would be a big payday for Farmer if he can take Zepeda’s spot as the challenger to Shakur’s opponent.

Zepeda wants tank or Shakur

“We just need the champions to say yes, to agree to fight the #1 contender. We have proven that we are capable of fighting for a world championship. Now we just have to confirm the fight and accept the champions,” said Zepeda.

Shakur has already said yes to a fight against Zepeda. That fight will be available to him next February in Riyadh if he wants it. Of course, if Zepeda can get a title shot against Tank Davis, he’ll gladly take it.

“We are excited about the opportunity. I know the door that opens for me, and we’re going to make the most of it. I think it’s a matter of being given the opportunity to fight for a world title. A very good fight against someone like Shakur Stevenson or against Gervonta, which shows what we’re made of,” Zepeda said.

It sounds like Zepeda is hoping to possibly get a title shot against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis rather than just WBC champion Shakur Stevenson. He knows the money he can make fighting is going to be significantly more than fighting Shakur.
