Xander Zayas and Jorge Garcia both successfully weighed on Friday for their main fight for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title this Saturday night at ESPN.

Zayas-Garcia Weigh-in: Feisty Faceoff
As he stood side by side, Zayas (21-0, 13 COs) tried to put his arm in front of Garcia to punk him. Garxcia (33-4, 26 COs) did not go for it and put his arm in front of Zayas.

Xander will have to show more power than he did in his last battle to do him with Garcia on Saturday night. What Zayas has shown against little well -known Slava Spomer is that he has to get a lot of shots for him to achieve knockouts. He can do this against fighters who are carefully combined from the rejecting pile, but he will not be able to do so now that he is acting to the world class level.
Garcia: the unprotected, proven threat
Jorge Garcia is the more proven fighter than Xander, after beating Charles Conwell and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov in his last two fights. He was not protected by his promoters as Zayas had. You could say that he was developed as fighters are supposed to be by fighting the opposition of quality.
“I think these two fighters fit well because of their style. It’s going to be an excellent battle. They may not be the biggest names, but there’s a lot about,” says Algieri.
If the top rank was prepared to put Zayas with good opposition years ago, he would be a bigger name. Of course, it would contribute to beating the top names, and it is doubtful that he would. The way he was entangled by Patrick Teixeira. Since then, Xander has become more of a runner -up and less willing to get involved.
“We saw him grow to what he is now,” Algieri said about Zayas. “He is fighting for his first world title in one of the deepest divisions in the world today.”

What is surprising is how fast Zayas has aged. He went from a youthful 21 to a much older fighter in one year. The 22-year-old, Xander, could easily succeed for a 28 or 29-year-old man. He seems to be no longer in the early 20s. It is unclear why he is aged so quickly, but perhaps the training of training did. He is aged as in dog years instead of people years since 2024. He may have had a very short career. If you are high, you must start pushing him faster to remove the most miles out of him.
