The Shani Trophy is all set to thrill cricket fans next month, with marquee Indian players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia confirming their participation in the unique format of the tournament.
The tournament will be hosted by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), Lucknow Cricket Association and Divya Future Sports. Shani’s Trophy will offer fans a unique experience of watching retired cricket legends, current Ranji Trophy players and talented state-level cricketers in action together.

This competition is planned to be held in Lucknow. Along with former Rajasthan Royals teammates Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia, Tamil Nadu’s rising star B Sai Sudharsan and veteran all-rounder Jayant Yadav will also feature in this exciting Shani Cup, according to the organizers.
Shani’s Trophy will be played in over 25 exciting formats with 10 teams competes in high-stakes matches. Fans can enjoy two matches every day – one in the morning and the other in the afternoon or evening. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and Lucknow Cricket Association have officially approved the event as per a letter sent to Mr. Sumit Shukla, President of Shani Trophy and Managing Director of Divya Future Sports. UPCA, in partnership with Divya Future Sports, aims to create a high-quality cricket tournament that combines tradition with innovation.

In an official statement, Sumit Shukla (as quoted by News18) said, “We are delighted to bring this unique format in partnership with Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and Lucknow Cricket Association (CAL). With the support of UPCA and CAL, we aim to provide an unforgettable cricket experience for the fans, featuring some of the best cricketers.
Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal and Riyan Parag will not be seen together in pink for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL 2025 as the star Indian leg-spinner has joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the next season. Chahal will play under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2025.
Chahal last played for India in 2023, but he was part of India’s T20 World Cup winning team in 2024. However, he could not win a single game in the tournament.
