Shakur Stevenson went on X with Theofimo Lopez and let him know that he “Time is up” As the WBO Light Welterweight Champion. He plans to upset Lopez (22-1, 13 COs) in their possible battle during the Riyadh season in January 2026.
Teo loose the dogs
Theofimo unleashed the dogs early today and Shakur marked “Mr. Sandman” ‘To sleep.’ As for the moniker, no lies were told.
Stevenson refuted by pointing out that Lopez had been knocking out since he had moved to 140 in 2022. He is actually wrong. Theofimo knocked out his first opponent at Light Welterweight, Pedro Campa, in the seventh round on August 13, 2022. He did not stop anyone in his last five fights.
Shakur’s Foxhole Escape
The choice to move to 140 to challenge theofimo for his WBO title is just a fox hole for Shakur to hide. He has a hungry wolf at the door with the 2020 Olympic gold medal Andy Cruz, Remembered as his no. 1 -contender for his WBC lightweight belt. If he shows up to fight, Stevenson Cruz can swing. He will face the talented Cuban if he returns unless he prefers to evacuate.
The world champion of three divisions, Shakur (24-0, 11 COs), will have to increase his game to defeat theo, as he has shown signs of slip in his last four fights since 2023. For the past two years, people have talked about the decline in Stevenson’s performance.
Is Stevenson taking off?
Some people believe that he is past his lead on 28, because he shows signs of decline of reflexes. Fighters who depend on their velocity tend to fall down quickly in the late 20s. Shakur did not look good in any of these battles in 135:
- William Zepeda
- Josh Padley
- Artem Harutyunyan
- Edwin Delos Santos
