David Puig’s opening round at the Championship PGA was more impressive than it seemed.

Charlotte, NC – David Puig It was removed for a few minutes from a completely common opening round in the PGA championship when he made a tremendous acceptance.
“It was strange for sure,” he said, getting bored. “I’ve only played nine money.
Puig, whose surname is pronounced ”“He looked proud of, if not particularly affected by this information. He spoke about his first round in nine back in Quail Hollow in the way one can discuss a trip to the fuel station, not the opening round of the second major championship of 2025-a tone as weak as his statement asked for clarification.
Wait, seriously?
“Today was the first day I had seen nine back,” Puig said. “I didn’t even know where the holes were going and how the greens were.”
But it is unusual for a professional golf player to reach for opening in a big championship without having as much as walking Golf course, as Puig did on Thursday morning.
Eric Colewho best Puig from a shot on Thursday could not press an eyebrow raised when he learned about the Puig pre-Turne’s plan.
“Is it LOT Tough, “Cole said.” He probably caught him quickly, but yes, it would be a great surprise to see how soft everything is when the green is still strong. “
It was similar to taking a test without studying, wondering myself?
“I think it’s a little farther than that … but, yes,” Cole said.
Thankfully, Puig’s disturbing study strategy was not quite Dog-on-im-my-house. On the contrary, the 23-year-old Pro discovered that his preparation was driven by a back injury that appeared during his latest Liv in Korea, and testified so weak that Puig arrived at skeptical Charlotte he would compete at all.
“My back has not felt good for nine, ten days, so no practice has been practicing since the last day of Korea,” Puig said. “On Tuesday morning, I thought for sure that I wouldn’t go today. I managed to play (nine money) yesterday, and tried it today. In fact she replied pretty.”
Mud-Ball complaining in the Championship PGA lost in this great winner three times
Pleasant may be underlining it. Most of Puig equal, round 71 of the Puig were excellent, including a four-bird extension to five holes that briefly pushed it to four under the day. For most of a hot, contagious Thursday, he looked nothing like a man who would enter the morning on the eve of a medical WD, and showed nothing of the inexperience of a great championship competitor seeing the golf course for the first time. Hell, his first first ninth rear look at Quail Hollow began with bird-back birds in the 10th and 11th holes.
“I mean, I hit a great kick in 10 and 11,” Puig said. “On 13 I almost made birds. And I played even 14 and 15 quite well.”
His dream round would end with a trick and a duo on the famous Quail’s green kilometer to push it back at the same time, but no results would be enough to remove the brightness from a start to the PGA that would surprise it too.
“I mean, it’s shocking, you know, you reach those last three, four holes and you see this conclusion,” Puig said. “Of course, without me even practicing, you’re standing on the ball and doesn’t feel true, right?”
The reality remains suspended for David Puig while the sun sets in the Championship PGA on Thursday. His back is still a mystery – and a long day of recovery stands between now and his Friday afternoon time.
While talking only outside the scorer’s tent in Quail Hollow, Puig still seemed upset. He would have been surprised by many Thursday, but nothing compared to the surprise of his outcome card.
“I have been able to Run the tournament for a while, “he said.” I was like, JesusMaybe I have a chance to go very deep. “
