Are your very high wedges flying?
Hitting your high wedges can be useful when lofon your ball over trouble, but there is a point where its very high hit becomes a problem. If you look at Wedges Pro Hit, you will notice that they control their trajectory beautifully and do not hit the ball straight in the air. This is important for controlling your distances and setting the right amount of rotation on the ball.
So how can you find out if you are hitting your very high wedges? McLachlin suggests getting a release monitor to check your numbers.
“The angle of starting is important here,” says McLachlin. “We want to be able to start (fraud wedge) somewhere between 20 and 24 (degrees). If you are starting this thing about 30 (degrees), that’s not good. This is going too high and you are getting its rotation.”
When you start your sharp wedge in this window, you will get the right landing angle to your purpose that allows you to glue the ball nearby. So next time you are on a release monitor, check the numbers on your annoying wedge to make sure your points clubs are optimized.
