Yoenli Hernandez headlines Hollywood Main Event vs Rodriguez

Yoenli Hernandez will return to the ring against Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez in the 10-round middleweight main event next month on October 12 at the Seminols Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida.

Cuba’s upcoming middleweight contender

The Camaguey, Cuba-born Hernandez (8-0, 7 COs) are on the ranking of #1 WBA, #2 WBC, #5 WBO and #15 IBF at the middleweight. He is considered a future star in the division and the one expected to take over soon. Yoenli is an explosive puncher with power in both hands and is able to injure his opponents at a moment’s notice.

From Kyrone Davis’s dominance to Rodriguez

The three-year Pro Hernandez takes a big step in the class facing Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez (16-14-1, 7 food) of his last battle against Kyrone Davis. Yoenli dominated the famous Kyrone, dropped him in round two and hit him in Las Vegas on May 31, 2025 by a running unanimous decision of 10 round. The scores were 100-89, 100-89 and 100-89. The battle was a complete dominance for Yoenli.

The fight against Carlos Rodriguez is one way to keep the Providence, Yoenli, based on Rhode Island, until his promoters set up a bigger competition at Warriors Boxing and Heavyweight Factory Promotions. Hernandez is able to beat a much better travel man than Rodriguez. Hopefully, for the sake of him, Yoenli is not wasting the best years of his career against unknown fighters at the lower level.

It will be interesting to see how Yoenli stands up against the middleweight champions Carlos Adames and Erislandy Lara. Those battles would be a war for the 6’2 ″ Yoenli, and that would give him the chance to show what he could do against well -known fighters.

Yoenli’s last four wins

  • Kyrone Davis
  • Angel Ruiz Astorga
  • Bryce Henry
  • Jose Sanchez Charles

Canelo Alvarez Sparring Experience is important

Recently, Yoenli, 28, assisted the former undisputed super -middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez in preparing for his title defense against Terence Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas. It didn’t go too well for Canelo, but it is not due to a lack of preparation.

Alvarez had the best sparring that could buy money from Yoenli and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. Maybe too good, because he looks worn of the hard training he did with these two phenomas.
