The WBO shelters Xander Zayas is confident that he will get a title against the WBC and the WBO Junior Middleweight Champion Sebastian Fundora. The 22-year-old Zayas (21-0, 13 COs) have already set up his high sparring partners for the camp to help him practice for the 6’5 1/2 ″ Fundora (22-1, 14 COs).
Fundora’s choice
Fundora’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, still did not say whether they were getting rid of the fight against Zayas, or whether they would focus on fighting the next one. Lewkowicz said last Saturday night that Xander is young enough to where he can afford to wait.

Interestingly, Top Rank Zayas has positioned to fight Fundora for his WBO belt, rather than going in the direction of being compulsory for the IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev. Of course, they know that the lack of power of Zayas would put him at the grace of Bakhram, which would cut him apart.
In addition, the IBF would not make it easy for Zayas to become mandatory like the WBO. He is expected to fight someone things like Yoeniz Tellez, and he probably won’t do well against the man. The WBO gave the green light to Xander to face Slowa Spomer in a title -eliminator. It was like the WBO that Zayas gives the compulsory position on a silverboard without having to work for it.
It is good for him, but also bad because he is not ready to fight for a world title against Fundora because his opposition has been so weak his entire career. If promoters for marketing reasons bend back to produce a fighter, they are completely unprepared when they finally fight for a world title unless the champion is weak.
Puerto Rico Dream
“He’s a long fighter, but when you look at his fights, he doesn’t know how to fight on the outside. He is flat foot. He doesn’t have the best feet. He is a fighter and knows how to fight, but I just feel like I can use many things.
‘We have already set up the sparring partners for this camp. So we already have an idea of who we bring. We are in conversation with a title shot. This is the struggle (our hope) is going to happen next. Hopefully I get my title in the summer and bring the championship to Puerto Rico. ‘
There is little chance that Sebastian Fundora will agree to defend his titles in Puerto Rico against Zayas unless it goes to the bid and the top victory. However, it doesn’t matter. Fundora is going to be a nightmare for Xander, no matter where the fight is performed, and the judges will not have the chance to get the fight.
Zayas does not have the power or the experience of defeating a fighter like Fundora. The top rank has kept Xander under protection since he has pro and linked him to two -part opposition to ‘develop’ him, but the disadvantage is that he is not ready for fighters with top levels.
The stuff that worked for Xander against fighters like Slowa Spomer will not be effective against Fundora, and it doesn’t matter that he has very high sparring partners for training camp. They are not going to have the kind of talent that the ‘magic inferno’ has, because if they did, they would not work as sparring partners.
