The South African National Cricket Team has suffered a new injury as the 24-year-old right-arm pacemaker. Gerald Coetzee picked up a groin niggle.
A groin strain makes Gerald Coetzee a serious doubt for the second Test in two matches series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team starting on December 5th.

Gerald Coetzee’s injury is the second injury blow for South Africa
Gerald Coetzee was part of the South African National Cricket Team in the first Test against the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team at Kingsmead in Durban.
In the first innings, he conceded 18 runs and took 2 wickets, losing 3 times, and in the second innings, he conceded 67 runs and scored 2 wickets.
In the morning session on Day 4 of the Test, right-arm pacer Gerald Coetzee started the bowling action. Kagiso Rabadabut stopped after more than 3 spells.
The second spell of the morning was only twice, and after that he emptied three times after dinner. It should be noted that Shukri Konrad, the head coach of the South African national team, announced that Coetzee informed him that he felt groin pain at dinner. A pacemaker scan is scheduled for tomorrow to determine the full extent of the injury.

The Proteas would be hoping for a speedy recovery for Coetzee as they have already lost the services of all-rounder Wiaan Mulder.
On the 2nd day of the Durban Test, he broke his right middle finger and was ruled out of the series. Speaking after registering a dominant 233-run win in the first Test, Temba Bavuma He talked about the injury problems in the team. He said:
“Wiaan is out, (and) we have to find a replacement. The medical team (for Gerald Coetzee) will do everything they can.”
With the win over Sri Lanka, the Proteas moved up to second in the ICC World Test Championship standings and Temba Bavuma said reaching the final was their main goal. He said:
“That’s probably one of our goals as a team (to get to the WTC final), I told the guys coming into the series that we have to focus internally on what we can do, let the things on the outside take care of themselves. I’m looking forward to it (the second Test) and hopefully the weather will show itself.”

Speaking during a press conference, Shukri Konrad Temba praised Bavuma for his sensational performance with the bat in Durban. It should be noted that the Proteas captain scored 70 and 113 runs from the front. Conrad elaborated:
“Temba is at his best when his back is against the wall and he has to stand up. He was exceptional in this match. That 70 went a long way to give us something respectable to bowl. I quietly whispered to him last night that he thought it was his most is a good hundred”.
