Nair achieved this incredible feat on January 3 in Vidarbha’s VHT 2024-25 match against Uttar Pradesh. In a thrilling chase of 308 runs, the Vidarbha skipper played an impressive knock of 112 runs and was dismissed for the first time in his last four innings in the tournament.
His 112-run knock ended with 11 fours and two sixes. In his century, Karun Nair set a new world record ahead of New Zealand James Franklin Being the most consistent A-list player without getting fired. On Friday, January 3, Nair surpassed Franklin’s tally of 527 runs in 2010.
After being dismissed for 112 by the right-handed batsman Bihari Rai, his unbeaten run in the tournament for the first time ended on 542 in the ongoing 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was Karun Nair’s fourth consecutive century in the ongoing tournament.

The Vidarbha skipper started the VHT 2024-25 with an unbeaten 112* against Jammu and Kashmir and a solid 44* against Chhattisgarh. He then went on to score a stunning 163* against Chandigarh, an impressive 111* against Tamil Nadu and now 112 against Uttar Pradesh.
With his incredible ton during Vidarbha’s eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh at the Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram on Friday, Nair also became the first Indian to score 500 or 500+ List A runs without a drop between innings when he reached 70.
Nair became the third batsman to score three consecutive centuries in the 50-over tournament in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2024-25 season, joining his former teammate and Karnataka captain. It should be noted that Nair, who last played for India in 2017, made a strong comeback at a crucial moment in his career. After going unsold in the IPL auctions for two consecutive seasons, the talented batsman was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 50 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in November.
This will mark Nair’s second stint with Delhi Capitals (DC), having previously played for the franchise in the 2016-17 season. Last year, Nair ended his 11-year association with Karnataka and moved to Vidarbha in 2023 and now he is the captain of the ongoing VHT 2024-25.
