When Asked about his Ryder Cup Ryder’s advice on newcomers, Rory Mcilroy spoke about balance. Far from home, things can become chippy. The tendency, then, is to restore chippy.
But many chippy can cause problems, he said.
The same goes for not enough.
“I ever feel in the Ryder Cup, I’m very engaged with that, a lot with the crowd,” Mcilroy said on Thursday, the day before this year’s Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black. “But then there are times when I haven’t engaged enough. So it’s really just trying to find the balance of using that energy from the crowd to promote your performance.
“I felt like in Hazeltin (in the 2016 Ryder Cup), I have probably been engaged many times, and then whistles (in the Ryder Cup in 2021), I did not engage enough and felt flat enough. It is simply trying to find that balance.
“I can’t tell anyone in the team what that balance is. They really have to find it yourself. But it’s the challenge to play away, or not just trying to perform at your best level, but someone in the American Hole Hole, and then you have to follow them. But you know, you have the crowd of you. normal you to be crazy.
With that configuration, we go to the 11th hole of Bethpage on Friday afternoon. Mcilroy and European partner Shane Lowry were playing Americans Sam Burns AND Patrick Cantlay in a four -ball match. Things were back and forth. On the 11th, Lowry rolled in a 3-way for Birdie, after a wonderful short iron in 114 yards outside, and Lowry and Mcilroy went 2-up in the match. They celebrated. At one point, Lowry told a Greenside Fan; The broadcasters believed that the motion was towards a fan holding a Ireland flag. Lowry and Mcilroy left the green.
Then Mcilroy showed with only one finger on the left. Sky Sports caught it. Fan Tweetoi a video of her.
You can decide if Mcilroy has found the right balance. The video is below.
