Witbs Tour usually look alike – Theegala does not (at all)

Most Witbs PGA Tour (what is in my purse) look pretty the same. We know the typical configuration of wood, 3-wood, service iron, standard iron group, some wedge, etc. It is a formula that most tour players follow without many deviations. But this is not what you will find in the Sahith Theegala golf bag. It has a strange bag, but it is effective, and it can simply change the way you think of the equipment “at the tournament level”.

8-Iron that is technically a 7-i hea

If you look closely, you will see 4-, 5- and 6-iron and then 8, 9, making wedge. Where is the 7-Hekuri? Good question, strange answer: He had a ping to create a 7-Hakuri with an 8 stamped on the only one.

The same attic, different number.

As a young golf player, Theegala fought with his 7th, which was affecting his mental game. As a PGA Tour professional, he just doesn’t want to see that number in his bag. Instead he has an 8-Iron AND an “8-plus iron”.

One of the wood and 9-wood

Traditional tournament is to keep a driver, a 3-dru and then sometimes a 5-dru or an iron service. Theegala chooses a Ping G440 Max 4-Dru turned down to 16 degrees and a 24-degree 9-degree wood.

Interestingly, he is not the only professional with a 9-tree in the bag ever. Adam Scott and Ryan Gerard also have them. As Theegala makes some twists in his bag depending on the tournament he is playing, 9-Duri is there regular.

He is also quoted to say he can Put a 5-Hibrid in the bag at one point.

Pro Tournament do not usually play “Max” Woodway Woods

Most PGA Tour players bend toward the next low -rotating forests like Ping patterns lst. But Theegala’s bag contains two Ping G440 Max Fairway Woods.

LST Fairway Woods only come in a 5-wood and a 3-dru. Max comes to 3-, 4-, 5-, 7- or 9-dru.

The G440 Max is more forgiving, starts above and offers more rotations, traits that many amateurs can benefit (and, apparently, some tour professionals). His deployment proves that forgiveness is not just for medium handicappers. It’s about matching the right tool with the shooting.

Final thoughts

Baganta and Theegala is strange to the tour standards but is not accidental and works. He knows what he needs and makes sure he is in the bag. If you are looking for a reason to break the tradition and build a composition that fits your game, use Theegala as inspiration.
