Daren Sammy in a thrilling encounter at the National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, West India broke the record to secure a 5-wicket win over England. This win in the 4th T20I was the hosts’ first win in the five-match series, with England currently leading 3-1.
England’s explosive start
After being put into bat, England posted a stunning 218/5 in 20 overs courtesy of some power-packed performances. Phil Salt laid the foundation with a 35-ball 55 that included five fours and four sixes. Jacob Bethell He caught the eye by hitting 62 off just 32 balls, including four fours and five powerful sixes. Contributions from Jos Buttler (38 off 23) and Sam Curran (24 off 13) boosted the total.
For West Indies, Gudakesh Motie (4-0-40-2) was the pick of the bowlers, while Alzarri Joseph and Roston Chase batted with a wicket each. However, the bowlers generally struggled as England’s batting order dictated the conditions.

Rovman Powell (38 off 23) and Sherfan Rutherford (29 off 17) kept the momentum alive despite a brief hiccup when Nicholas Puran (0) and Shimron Hetmyer (7) were dismissed for cheap scores. The West Indies completed the chase in just 19 overs, finishing on 221/5.
England’s bowlers found it difficult to contain the West Indian attack. Rehan Ahmed took three wickets but was expensive, conceding 43 runs in four overs. Saqib Mahmood was economical with figures of 0/24 in four overs, but the rest of the attack, including Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone, struggled to make an impact.
