Promoter Frank Warren confirmed last Saturday night that British veterans Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora will meet for a trilogy clash on December 13, 2025 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
Whyte vs. Chisora 3 will headline on DAZN PPV. The price is yet to be determined, but it could be £24.95 for UK fans and $59.99 for US fans.
Fans Slam the Money Grab
Fans on social media are hostile to the idea of a trilogy between Whyte and Derek, viewing it as a pathetic cash grab. They would rather see them retire and be permanently put out to pasture or to the glue factory. None of them have beaten a top name in many years. It is no longer sporting to be used as a trial horse for the young.
Both of these quite rich, millionaire socialites Heavyweights made an excellent living as the B opponents of the division’s top names for many years. Unfortunately, they have lost too much of their game due to their advanced ages and ring attire to be useful for headlining purposes.
“Chisora vs. Whyte is done and dusted. We’ve got a few pieces to sort out, but I’ll sort them out,” promoter Frank Warren told The Ring, confirming that the Derek Chisora vs. Dillian Whyte trilogy next to take place.
Chisora’s farewell—or not?
It is a fight more about nostalgia than to have an influence on the division. The 41-year-old Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) is expected to retire after this fight. However, this is far from certain; this is possibly at least Chisora’s last fight. If he keeps getting high paying headlining gigs given to him by his promoter, he’s not going anywhere.
Whyte (31-4, 21 KOs) has a perfect 2-0 record against Chisora in their two fights. In their first fight on December 10, 2016, Dillian defeated Chisora by a questionable 12-round split decision. The scores were 115-113, 115-114 for Whyte and 115-114 for Chisora. Many boxing fans felt that Derek did enough to deserve the win.
In the rematch, Whyte scored an 11th round knockout. At the time of the stoppage, Chisora was leading 95-94, 95-94 on two of the judges’ scorecards, and one judge had Whyte ahead 95-94.
Olly Campbell’s point of view
Chisora-Whyte 3 is pure nostalgia monetized with a likely staggering price tag that doesn’t match the entertainment value the fight will offer to the average fan. If it was a free fight on DAZNit wouldn’t be quite so bad. But at this point, these two don’t belong in the main event on a PPV card. Trotting them out at this stage of their careers is repulsive.
The fight smells like a rush with two millionaire warhorses, both long washed out, getting one last payday on DAZN. In their prime, they were decent to look at, but far from spectacular. They were more interesting outside the ring than in it.
Both fighters are incredibly rich despite never winning world titles. Fans will be shocked at the millions Whyte and Chisora made as opponents for Tyson Fury, and in Dillian’s case, Anthony Joshua.
