Scottie Scheffler, if he will ever design a golf course, warns you.
It can be boring.
“I’m not super creative in that sense,” he said at the beginning of this year.
Still, world no. 1 and Last week’s PGA championship winner I know what he likes from one track, and what he dislikes, and he shared his thoughts on the subject A recently released video on the Golf channel on YouTube Golf Grant Horvat. Let’s start with his preferences. In the video, Horvat asked him to name a course he liked from a strategic perspective.
Scheffler named three – Augusta National, Tpc saw AND city.
Why Augusta?
“Strategically, Augusta is really good,” he said in the video. “You still have to hit him away. Like his stroke away is an advantage in Augusta, but the areas where you have to hit the ball are so small.
“And the big areas of runoff, fairway, around green I think it’s better in terms of making a shot and creativity and there are more stuff for her than just putting fiercely fiercely on the side of any green, because then there is a competition who gets a good lie.”
What about Sawgrass and Harbor Town?
Variety, he said. You need to hit different shots. He gave examples.
“If you look at the saw,” said Scheffler, “the first hole, cut a top, draw in green. Second hole, draw a tee, cut into green. Then it’s a cut and a draw, a cut in five, draw in six, draw in seven – you have to hit the shooting.”
A little startling, he is won in all those courses, which he accepted – “I feel silly,” he said. Then is what is uncomfortable for him in the course design.

Scheffler said he is upset by the disappearance of trees.
“One of the reasons I would like to finally get into a golf course design,” Scheffler said, “is because what they are doing for golf courses now don’t like it.”
“They remove all the trees.” He continued, “and they make the greens larger and they usually make the fair roads even a little bigger. And so like the only true obstacle for boys simply trying to hit it as much as they essentially want or have to be trees.
“Like when you organize a championship tournament, if there are no trees, you just hit it wherever you want because if I miss a straight 10 -yard road, I’m in the thick thick (but) if I miss 20, I’m in the crowd.”
