With apologies for Gay Talese, Rory Mcilroy There is a cold.

Wednesday at Zurich Classic – the first start of Mcilroy since his Historical masters earn -Mcilroy addressed the media with a heavy head and a nasally tone, no doubt a by-product of what was a two-week-fired, full of toasting.

“It’s not every day to meet one of your eternal goals and dreams,” Mcilroy said, “and I just tried to enjoy everything that comes with it.”

Mcilroy’s first stop after Augusta was London, where he and his wife, Erica, are building a house. From there, Mcilroy said, he, Erica and their 4-year-old daughter, Poppy, threw a plane in Belfast to spend time with Rory’s parents, Gerry and rosieand “some other people who are important to me.”

Among this discovery group, Mcilroy said, were Michael Bannon, Roray’s shaky coach since his youth of Holywood, and Rory’s Caddy and Boyhood Friend, Harry Diamondand his wife. “To celebrate with the people who have been part of all this for my whole career, my whole life, was absolutely amazing,” Mcilroy said.

But again in Gerry and Rosie, who, when Rory was coming ranks, made many great sacrifices to help him achieve his dreams. Gerry worked for 100 hours by carrying and managing a golf locker as Rosie worked on a 3 million factory, mainly to help their sole child follow his high ambitions.

While Rory became a match in professional golf, so does his parents, especially Gerry, who was a regular smiling in Rory’s swelling galleries.

At the beginning of this month at Augusta NationalHowever, Gerry and Rosie were nowhere found. While a victorious Rory went from the 18th green to score Sunday evening, hugging everyone on his way, his mother and father were about 4,000 miles away, back home in northern Ireland.

And, by its sound, surrounded by boxes.

Rory said Wednesday that his parents lacked his big Slam moment because they were moving home.

“They said it was a good thing,” Rory said in Michael Breed’s Siriusxm show. “They were happy to have something to do to get rid of what was happening to the masters.”

You know, parental stress and everything.

When Rory was finally tied up with Gerry and Rosie?

“Very exciting,” Rory said. “It was amazing to reset the week – and not just restore the week, but the whole trip we have passed to reach this point.” He added, “being an only child, I definitely have an extremely close relationship with my parents and be able to share this with them was very special.”

Among Mcilroy’s close friends who it Was instead of masters to celebrate with it was Shane Lowrywith whom Mcilroy is defending in Zurich this week. Good times will no doubt continue to roll in Big Easy, but Mcilroy and Lowry both know it’s time to get back to work.
