Exhibitions in Oakmont include memory of Angel Cabrera’s nicotine habit.

Two of these things are not like others.
Inside the History Hall, a room with a place name on the first floor of the club in Oakmont country clubwalls are coated with glass screen occasions that bride with championship. Each is dedicated to the 10 US openings that the club has staged, including the tournament this week.
Everyone photographer and object in the exhibition comes with a story, from the image of a stable Ben Hogan, which hit the field in 1953 while scoring a fourth US fourth win in Bulls Eye Putter that Johnny Miller run in 1963 along the way to a last round 63 in the pair of cigarette buttons that. . .

Long ago Charley hull He went viral to swollen in a cigarette in 2024 of the US Women Open at Pebble Beach, a nicotine dependent named Angel Cabrera put a burnt performance in Oakmont while burning through a marlboro mother. Over four rounds at US Open 2007, Cabrera followed a reliable pattern, absorbing a cigarette before each stroke: smoke one, then smoke one. That was his routine.
The general surgeon may not recommend this. But a shaky teacher could not have complained. Cabrera was strong, shooting a Sunday with one under 69 to keep Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk with a stroke.
As for the remnants of Ashy from Cabrera’s custom, most of it were injured in his caddy bib. When that Bib surrendered to the club as a historic hold, a herd of cigarettes were in the front pocket. Two untouched examples have been in the showcase in the History Hall since then.
“It is a part of such folly but important of that story,” says David Moore, curator of Oakmont collections.
