The former artist known as Honda Classic was once known for his high winds and the fresh alleys and greens that led to an open American test in the PGA National Champion course.
Those days in Classic Classic Classic in Palm Classic seem to be a thing of the past. The tour began overseeing the Bermuda bar with Ryegrass in 2023 to make the grass green and soften things up. This decision has led to lower results in the pride and joy of Jack Nicklaus, with the last torch coming on Thursday when Jake KNAPP Charged a 12-nine-par 59 in the opening round.
KNAPP 59 was the 15th sub-60 round in PGA Tour’s history and had some pros by surprising the defect of PGA National.
Jack Nicklaus, however, did not mind that KNAPP got one of his signature courses.
For the big champion 18 times, the KNAPP 59 said something positive about the champion’s course.
“The boys hit him further, the conditions are good, you have a kind day and the boys can shoot a good result. Okay. Now if you have a day as we did Thursday and 3 under the low result, then I think it’s golf courses fault. “
Nicklaus’s opinion was not separated from Billy Horschel.
“It didn’t smell, so it helps extremely a lot,” Horschel said on Thursday. “You have to catch your hat for it (KNAPP). He shot a 12 -nine 59 at PGA National, which no one thought about. I know we had a discussion earlier this week and probably changed my melody a little. I think there is supervision – rough is not long enough.
“I really want we would just play this as a righteous Bermuda. From Tee to Green, everything Bermuda is right. I know it doesn’t look beautiful on TV and know this is one of the reasons why it is supervised.”
Herschel later added: “It’s a little frustrating that, I would say the condition of the course is very scary.”
Jordan Spieth made his debut on the tour this week and noted that the conditions and configurations called on the boys to go low on Thursday.
“I thought of a course configuration that they were not much of the most difficult pins in the golf course,” Spieth said. “Many of them were in possible places, and then we didn’t have any smell, so it was a beautiful morning.”
Chris Kirk won the 2023 tournament on 14 under par. Austin Eckroat followed with a show 17 under the past year.
The winner the digits are about this number this year. That’s okay with Nicklaus, though there is no doubt that he would prefer PGA National of Old to return.
