Shocking Daniil Medvedev suggested he would not stand for intimidation.
Suffering visible cramps in the third set of its semifinal loss in Beijing TienMedvedev failed to make an effort to return the US service.

That act prompted Chairman Umpire Ali Li To hit the former world no. 1 with a violation of code for lack of best efforts while tracing the Tien 0-1 in the last set.
A brave and extraordinary medvedev was thrown into the chair, called for the supervisors and asked both men: “Why is every judge in the world trying to intimidate me?”

“I’m giving my best attempt. I’m telling you I’m giving my best effort,” Medvedev said. “Who are you to decide for me? Who are you? How do you name? Will you retire?
“Why is every judge in the world trying to intimidate me? I didn’t say a word. After us open, I’m trying to be good. This guy was doing it and I would think of doing well?
“I’m meant to do well? Why are you trying to scare me?”
After all, Medvedev lost his argument, his physical battle and retirement with 19-year-old Tien holding a lead 5-7, 7-5, 4-0 when the ex. 1 was thrown from today’s Beijing semifinals.
In 19 years, 9 months, Tien is Beijing’s second youngest finalist in history after former world no. 1 Rafael Nadal, which was 19 years, 3 months when Guillermo Coria defeated China’s Open 2005 final.

“I was down 3-5 and 2-4 in the second and I retired on my way,” Tien said. “I didn’t think anything was okay with him and then he came out of some kind of bath rest, so I wasn’t sure if he was driving or if he was injured after having tape.
“I think it was cramp and I’ve been there and it’s not fun. All the best for him and it’s not how you want to come through a match but I’m happy to be in the final.”
Winni Tien’s second victory over the season over Medvedev after his five-set triumph in Australian Open January last and in his first ATP career final.
Tien will take over the winner of Wimbledon Jannik Sinner in the finals.
